Step back in time to the boom town years of the 19th Century when over 3,000 people reveled in the bonanza of lead, copper, zinc and silver that flowed from the Kelly Mine.  You will see the steel headframe standing today just as Gustav Billing erected it from the designs of Alexander Eiffel in the 1880s.

kelmaptn.jpg (6156 bytes) Map of Kelly Mine Area: Explore ruins and foundations of a haunted ghost town where hotels, homes, banks and saloons still whisper on the wind of a great age when our nation was formed by the "hard work and long shots" of Kelly miners who provided rails, wire, ingots and paint pigments to a growing land.

For the serious mineral collector, surface stockpiles hold millions of tons of surprises.  With over 80 minerals cataloged, perhaps the world's finest Smithsonite may be found on your visit.
